Monday, Monday, gotta get down on Monday…
Anyway. Happy Monday, all! (Sorry I’m sucking at introductions lately. All of my creativity has been going towards Instagram photos…but at least I was creative enough to make the title have alliteration!)
Much thanks as always to Katie for hosting!
Marvelous is… joining the big leagues.
I ran my first double-digit treadmill run on Saturday!
Awesome things about this run:
1. I got to eat Swedish Fish while running. (Hey, that 2lb bag wasn’t completely for kicks and giggles…) I got a few weird looks, but I was dang happy at that 5 mile mark, and that’s all that matters, right?
2. I found a treadmill that has a 99 minute time limit instead of 60!
3. Gossip Girl season 6. I watched the first episode to get me through the last 1.5 miles. I was a devoted fan to Gossip Girl for the first 4 and a half seasons, and a slightly wimpier one for the last half of the 5th season, and I don’t really remember anything that happened during the last half of the 5th season, so I was a little lost…but still.
4. One of my (admittedly many) running idols, RunEMZ, commented on my Instagram photo.
AND SHE SAID I WAS AWESOME.
Uh, starstruck to the max.
Marvelous is… slowly building swimming endurance.
Gone are the days where I could do a 500 (for you non-swimming folk, that’s 20 laps) without batting an eyelash.
I was able to do a couple of 100s (4 laps) without too much of a struggle though.
Baby steps, right? Sigh.
Marvelous is… it’s birthday season in our household!
My mom’s birthday is July 25th, my dad’s birthday is TODAY (everyone wish him a happy birthday!!), and my birthday is in 18 days! (I expect everyone to eat froyo on my birthday to celebrate.) (My sister is the odd one out…her’s is in April.)
To celebrate both my mom and dad’s birthdays, we went out to dinner on Saturday night. We went to a small, locally owned Japanese restaurant in our town.
They gave us appetizers of bean sprouts for free. I’m always down for free food.
We ordered dumplings for our appetizer. (I had more than one, but I only took one at a time to be polite.)
My meal came with miso soup and a salad.
The miso soup was just…eh. Nothing special.
I’m not sure what the dressing on the salad was–it was slightly tangy, and my dad said it was some form of fish eggs. My sister wasn’t fan, but I liked it! I also tried eating it with chopsticks…eating salad with chopsticks is a struggle.
Then, it was time for the main course!
I had the seafood combination, which was:
Stir fried shrimp, scallops, whitefish, and mussels with a side of seafood sauce.
It came with sides of rice (I chose brown). The seafood sauce reminded me a little bit of the sauce that you eat with crab cakes. (Does anyone know what I’m talking about?)
Look at those mussels!
I really liked my meal, but my sister wasn’t a fan of hers (she got teriyaki chicken) and my dad’s sushi was just eh, nothing special, so we won’t be coming here again. At least I got a good meal out of it.
Marvelous is… back-to-school shopping!
We went mainly for my sister, but there were a few stray things that I needed to get as well.
We first stopped at Wal-Mart, where my sister found this gem:
(Sides are blacked out because she already wrote her name on it before I took a picture of it…c’mon, sis, get with the program.) I wish I had an excuse to buy folders just so I could have bought one for myself.
We then went to Bed Bath and Beyond, aka my favorite place ever.
Seriously, I could spend my life in there.
Next stop: OfficeMax. Where my sister spotted this:
There was no way I wasn’t getting it. They also had Stuart and Tim…if you don’t know how Stuart and Tim are you’re a disgrace.
Jokes, Stuart’s the one-eyed one and Tim’s the super tall one.
Last time you were blogger-starstruck?
You’re eating froyo on my birthday to celebrate, right?
Best back-to-school item you’ve ever found?
