Ran outside – 5miles/46:38
Was supposed to be an easy run, ended up as a hard one. Sh** happens, life goes on.
Thank you all for your support and your kind words about my new direction in life! I’m so excited to pursue this adventure, and hopefully everything will turn out okay in the end. (Complete with a not-so-huge mountain of debt, actual mountains, and lots and lots of dogs, of course.)
Wednesdays are always my favorite day. I’m such a foodie at heart, but I do tend to get stuck in food “ruts.” I use the term loosely because I never not like what I eat, but I tend to like it so much that I eat it over and over. (And over.)
I started escaping my routine this week. You’ll still see my normal staples of eggs, cheese, fruit, Greek yogurt, and froyo, but let’s play a game and see if you can spot three things you’ve never seen on the blog before!
Without further ado…here’s what I’ve been eating lately.
Much thanks to Jenn for hosting!
Egg white oats topped with Justin’s Maple Almond Butter and strawberries
Eggs, toasted sandwich thin with Justin’s Maple Almond Butter (seriously, if you haven’t tried this yet, do it), strawberries
Freshly cut mangoes (I usually just get frozen!), eggs topped with shredded mozzarella cheese
Spinach salad topped with a grilled mahi mahi burger, shredded mozzarella cheese, and guacamole
Whole Foods salad (black beans, wheat berries, mushrooms, cabbage, spinach, kale, Mediterranean dressing) and a turkey and swiss sandwich I brought from home
Spinach, buckwheat groats, mahi mahi burger, a slice of swiss cheese torn up, topped with marinara sauce
Quinoa with a slice of swiss cheese torn up, chicken wings, broccoli, cabbage
Roasted chicken (with skin, of course!), corn cut off the cob, sprouts
Salisbury steak with onions, potatoes, and mushrooms, and broccoli
Grapes and 0% plain Chobani with chia seeds (I can’t eat nonfat greek yogurt without anything…)
Plums (so. good.) with Fage 2%
Hint Water–not as good as I thought it’d be
Froyo! Peach and strawberry shortcake topped with marshmallows and rainbow sprinkles
Paleo microwave mug dessert, a la Rebekah at FitnesscrEATures. Her picture is much better than mine…mine came out a little squashed
My life is just full of news lately. But I do think that’s part of life–always challenging yourself, always trying new things, always discovering new things. As of yesterday, I’m shifting what I eat a little bit. I’ll talk about it a little bit after I’ve had some time to experiment!
Did you spot the new items? They were: (1) buckwheat groats (which are…interesting), (2) Hint water (disappointing), and (3) Paleo microwave mug dessert (absolutely fantastic.)
Can you eat non-fat Greek yogurt plain? Nope. Needs either fat or something stirred in.
Have you ever done any experimenting with your diet? (Other than going on diets…) I’ve never shifted my diet with a healthy mindset, like the one I have now. Once upon a time though, back in my disordered eating days, I’ve tried low-fat, low-carb, low-calorie, all of the usual suspects, but I’m excited to see what this shift brings for me!
