First off, I’d like to say that I loved reading your comments on my Paleo post. I haven’t gotten around to replying to them yet, but I will later today!
On another, completely unrelated note, it’s Monday. That means it’s one day closer to the day I go back to school. Drats. Can I have another like, two months? Is that a thing?
Although I guess the point of MIMM is to celebrate the marvelousness in our Mondays…okay, if you insist…
Marvelous is… so many good workouts.
Have any of you noticed by now that all of my good workouts seem to be over the weekend and all of my sucky ones are during the week? Hmm…
Saturday’s long run:
11 miles, boom. I only stopped for water twice (once at my house, once at a water fountain) and didn’t eat any food, although I had Swedish fish with me. So my only fuel for the entire 11 miles was a 240-calorie Clif Bar about an hour before my run. Did I mention it was 75 degrees and crazy high humidity? You can imagine how I felt at the end of it. (Read: note to self, don’t ever do that again.)
I officially broke a mile in terms of total yardage! For you non-swimming folks, a swimming mile is 1650 yards, or 66 laps in a 25 yard pool.
4 easy miles, 37:48. I’m really trying to focus on the “easy runs easy and hard runs hard” thing.
Tomorrow I start “speed work”–strides. And then the day after that I start actual speed work. Full-out tempo run. I’m
just a little bit frightened going to pee my pants.
Marvelous is… Chobani.
They commented on my Paleo post!
If there’s one company who does customer relations right, it’s Cho. Such a fantastic company.
Marvelous is… free food.
A grocery store near our house opened on Thursday. I went on Saturday, and ended up eating a second lunch, in the form of free samples.
Clockwise from the top left: BBQ brisket, ravioli with alfredo and cheese, a bar made with Justin’s Honey Peanut Butter, and full fat yogurt from grass-fed cows.
If this is a weekly thing, guess where I’m going to be every Saturday afternoon?
I need more of that ravioli in my life ASAP.
While I was there, I also spotted this gem:
It took me so much willpower not to buy it. Seriously–the top cracker always falls off in the microwave when the marshmallow expands.
Marvelous is… what, you don’t eat froyo twice in three days?
Friday night I got some fabulous froyo with a friend…except my sweet tooth was gone. I had no desire for any kind of sugar.
I kept it simple with peach and cake batter topped with coconut and a few mini chocolate caramel turtles.
But, have no fear. Last night I went with my sister, and I was definitely feeling the sugar!
Vanilla + dulce de leche topped with marshmallows, twix, and frosted animal crackers. Frosted animal crackers need to start becoming a thing on my froyo; it was heaven in a cup.
Also, I feel like I should start calling this blog “Froyo…and Some Fitness.” The alliteration is still there, and I eat froyo about ten times as often as I eat mangoes…
Is it weird that I eat more on my active recovery day than on the day I ran 11 miles?…c’mon body, get on that.
Marvelous is… this little girl.
I don’t think I’ve posted a picture of Rosie lately, so here’s a snapshot of our new tech geek in the family.
I swear that this photo wasn’t staged at all. She’s really into our electronics. Especially when her teething little mouth is able to fit around them.
Speaking of Rosie-poo, she’s getting spayed today! I’m scared…what if something goes horribly wrong (it is surgery, after all!) and she never comes back to us? D;
Err…think positive. She’ll be fine and she’ll be back and chewing on your laptop and phone and every other valuable thing before you know it.
Everybody wish Rosie luck!…and possibly reassure this mess of a puppy mommy that she’ll be okay.
That was a depressing note to end on. So…
What’s marvelous in your Monday?
How do you feel about speed work? I’m seriously about to pee my pants just thinking about it.
Favorite froyo topping?
Has your dog ever been spayed or neutered?
